Inspired by my friend Patty Rasmussen’s article on soup, I chucked a few things in the crockpot last night before going to bed. The result is in the picture above.
All I did was take some miscellaneous venison scraps, chop them into small pieces, season lightly from the spice cabinet & brown in a stainless skillet. Into the crockpot went the meat, some diced potatoes, carrots, celery & onion, one can of petite diced tomatoes (juice & all), a little garlic powder and about 2 quarts of water. I set it on low for 12 hours and went to bed. It was hard to wait until lunchtime because it smelled so good! (What I could smell of it anyways, with my cold in full swing.) I made some cornbread to go with it, and it made a healthy, filling meal.
Love me some soup!!
