Facebook changes … again
Be on the lookout for your new Facebook page! I haven’t been forced into the new look yet, and as with most changes, I am resisting until the last possible moment. So far, from what I see on some friends’ pages, I don’t like it yet. But here is an article to help you set up the new Timeline look
Coffee, anyone?
I like coffee. I like fancy coffee drinks. But I do not like paying the fancy prices. Take a quick look at this article to see how MUCH people are spending on coffee: (more…)
Shopping today
I went shopping today with the cash I had on hand – a $20 bill and undetermined amount of change (right around $5). I made trips to 4 stores, getting precisely what I needed and only picking up a couple of unexpected bargains. Were it not for those can’t pass up items, I wouldn’t have gone over by $5.58, causing me to use my debit card. I have done much better, but this was a trip with NO coupons, and <$1 in store loyalty discounts. (more…)
Off To A … Start
Today got off to a not so great start. It began FAR too early with notice that our plans for pet sitting on Saturday had fallen through. The rain was coming down pretty good but the pup had to (reluctantly) “go” outside for her morning routine. The kitten snuck down to the basement without my knowledge and didn’t follow us back up, so he was stuck down there without a litterbox. Thankfully, the black trashbags we had left taped to the floor for the box during our extended away-from-home jaunts was still there, so cleanup was easy. (Also thankful for the ultimate odor eliminator, our trusty box of kitchen matches!)
Food Blogging For Weight Loss
One of the most helpful tips for those who want to lose weight is to write down everything you eat & drink. This allows you to look back at your daily calorie consumption, which helps identify patterns and where changes can be made. But writing down everything you eat is not always convenient, especially with a hectic schedule. So what is a more effective method of food blogging for weight loss?
Thanksgiving 2011
I’ve been doing the 30 Days of Thanksgiving. Posting one thing each day to be thankful for is tough. Trying to decide which blessing to highlight and not wanting to leave out something important is quite a task. Aside from my daily thankfulness, here is what crossed my mind this morning:
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 24
I am thankful for a country that sets aside a day specifically for giving thanks. (Even if it is now an excuse to gorge on massive amounts of food and sit around watching football all day.) ** And a special HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish goes out to our lovely daughter, Sara!**
My Utmost for His Highest Nov. 23
When you say, “Speak to me, Lord,” be sure yo really want to hear! Today’s “Utmost” got me on 3 levels. (more…)
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 23
Thankful for miracles! Or more accurately, to have been witness to many miracles this year. Life is a gift, and so many have been granted this gift – either through the entrance of new life through a child, re-birth through salvation, miraculous healing, or even the unexplainable instances where someone shouldn’t have made it out alive. I am humbled when I think of these things.
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 22
Thankful for friends who help me stretch my faith. Without exercise, muscles atrophy, they lose strength & wither. The same is true for our faith. Obedience is our exercise. Giving thanks in good times & not so good, lifting up others in prayer, trusting God to see us through the seemingly impossible tough times – all these things strengthen us to become the mighty warriors of faith we were created to be!
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 21
I am thankful for the freedom and ability to go about as I please. I used to wish I lived in another country or was born in a different era, but God has placed in precisely this place at precisely this time so that I can best carry out His purpose.
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 20
Having a pastor for a father-in-law is a true blessing, especially as he always speaks TRUTH. I love his teaching/preaching style, and the homey feel of New Salem Baptist Church.
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 19
Thankful for the family I married into. For good times & bad, they are mine, just as my own flesh & blood. They are my favorite part of Tennessee!
30 Days of Thanksgiving – 18
Thankful for a paid-for car. I love my Crown Vic! It may look like a boat & scare folks when we’re on the Interstate (back roads, too!) but it sure is a comfy ride.
