Chance Encounter? I Think NOT!
I was listening to a company call for one of the products I’m involved with this morning, and the information sparked an idea in my brain. The product is currently available in 41 countries, including the United States and Puerto Rico, and just opened up in the EU. It is this last bit of information that caught my attention.
A.C. & I market a few different products, and we were contacted last September by someone in the UK who was interested in one of them. Unfortunately, I had to respond that the product he was inquiring about was not available in the UK. I also told him in my reply that once it did become available, I would be sure to let him know.
After the company call today, I went through my old e-mails, looking for “the one” I knew I had saved. Keep in mind that I did not remember when I had corresponded with this gentleman or his name. I finally found it, and promptly set about writing a new e-mail, reminding him of our connection and informing him of a new opportunity. I figured it was a longshot at best, but I felt compelled to do it.
Within moments after sending, I had a Skype invitation from him! We wound up talking about the products, what we were doing in the marketing world, and other things as well. You know the saying, “It’s a small world”? Well, turns out it really is! He knows a pastor who lives in our town (remember – he’s from the UK!), among other things.
I do not believe in happenstance, coincidence, or twists of fate. I believe there is a purpose behind each encounter in our lives. It is up to us to be aware of the possibilities as our life journey crosses the paths of others. This is where the idea of “Everyone is a potential customer/client/partner comes from.
Be aware of the possibilities! Tune your inner mind to recognize the opportunity to share with someone, whether it is now or some time in the future. Had I not considered the possibility of a future business partnership with this individual, I would have missed out not only on potential income, but friendship and fellowship as well.
