Our Green (Re)Start

We have just bought a house.  It’s beautiful, with not much cosmetic work to do before we move in. For a 13 year old house that has been vacant for two years, it’s in remarkably good shape. With a little decorating and some planning to make it more energy efficient, this is going to be a home to be proud of for years to come.

Having been in the metro Atlanta area for only 17 months, the reality of the cost of living has taken my husband, AC, by surprise. Almost everything we buy costs almost 25% less in his hometown of Cleveland, TN.  That said, we love the area, and particularly the city we live in, and plan to stay (hence the home purchase!).

Along with efforts to minimize the costs of running our new home on a day-to-day basis, we also want to be a “green” as we can be. You see, “green” for us is a whole life/quality of life concept. We want to make the best choices, using the resources available to us. in a responsible manner so we can enjoy the best possible quality of life.  This includes our home, neighborhood and community as well as our states of health & well being.

Stick around, because the articles are coming, and once they start, there will be a digital avalanche!

Talk much?

It’s long been said that women like to talk. It has also been said (sometimes not nicely) that we don’t know when to be quiet. Take a look at this gal, and tell me what you think.

Free Green Faxing

I was in a jam this morning, and needed a quick solution to a faxing problem. Well, I found a solution! It’s called FaxZero. You can send up to two free faxes per day in the US & Canada. Premium service is $1.99 per fax, with up to 15 pages and priority delivery.

You fill out the fax form, choose your file, type in confirmation code, and hit “send free fax now”.  Your fax is not sent until you confirm via an e-mail link sent to you. When the fax has been sent, you then receive a confirmation e-mail for your (digital) records.

** Help stop wasting paper and ink! You choose a file from your computer or disc. No need to print the document twice!

The only downside with the free fax is an ad on the cover page, and you are limited to three pages. But for small, occasional faxes,  it’s a great solution.

I’m sure there are other programs like this, but this was the first one I  saw, and it was a pseudo-emergency.
